Inoue, T., & Node, K. (n.d.). Molecular Basis of Restinosis and Novel Issues of
     Drud-Eluting Stents.
This study aimed to evaluate the affects of Drug eluting stents on the
failure of arterial surfaces to undergo reendothelialization, a probable
factor in the development of late stage thrombosis. In comparison to Bare
metal stents, which show greater signs of long term recovery in arterial
reendothelialization, DES may inhibit endothelial progenitors responsible
for re-surfacing of the artery. Overall, although restinosis has
decr4eased as a result of new drug eluting stents, late stage thrombosis
and other long term ailments continue to plague patients and their
       ability to completely recover.
