Paclitaxel-Eluting Coronary Stents.
In this study, recent experiments condemning the safety of DES are
evaluated and further researched. Combining 4 double blind studies to
maintain accuracy, this study concluded that DES do indeed increase risk
of long term complications, including late stage thrombosis and
myocardial infarction. It is also important to know that drug eluting
stents exhibit decreased amounts of reendothelialization, further
supporting the increased long term risk found for DES in this study.
