Human coronary artery.
This project aimed to develop a 3-D model of a diseased Human coronary
artery upon which novel stents could be tested in a simulated environment
through the input of variable stress parameters as measured by pressure
on the arterial wall. It was found that several key points within the
stents showed increased stress value's along the arterial wall, with the
stents themselves pushing through the arterial wall. By decreasing the
thickness of stents and their relative size, arterial inflammation could
be decreased, reducing the risk of neointimal growth.
