I always hated therapy when I was a child. It was a chore that I had to do that was difficult and different from other children. For most people therapy is improving from a worse case, from a situation that was bad in order to improve to the normal once again. That is what therapy always was for me. However, after I had hand surgery therapy helped aid a situation that bettered me right away. My “injury” was not a worse than before case but instead an improvement from my original position/situation. Hand therapy for me was a miracle—an improvement which has allowed me to have a greater appreciation for the career. People may not enjoy hand therapy but it Is the one job that cures something taken for granted: your hands. I enjoy seeing the progress people have made and how to treat cases involving hands because I know what it is like to be without your hands after surgery or an injury. Hand therapy at this point is definitely something I would like to go into.
