My name is Anita Chandrasekaran, and I am a senior at Atholton High School. Currently, I am an intern at the University of Maryland, School of Medicine, Department of Neurology under Dr. James Russell, MD. Our lab is specified towards researching diabetic neuropathy, a common complication of diabetes, leading to nerve dysfunction. Last year, I was at the same lab, researching the effect of mitochondrial transcription factor A (TFAM) on mitochondrial function in the cell. This year, I'm moving my focus towards the role of antioxidants in the cell in relation to mitochondrial functions.

Hello!
This portfolio is definitely one of my favorites! Visually, the page is fantastic. I love your use of so many pictures, they create a great energy. Also, your research topic seems really interesting and unique. I've never heard of diabetic neuropathy before, and the correlation with antioxidants really adds interest. How did you first become involved with studying diabetic neuropathy?
Best of luck in your research!
