To qualify as a classic by the Story Template Algorithm’s definition, the subject must meet a set requirement for inclusion, duration, and position of 26 story components.  These components include elements of plot, character roles, themes, chords, character strands, and other elements.  Eventually these scores for all variables will be compiled into one assessment: whether the Story Template Algorithm identifies the subject categorically as a “classic” or “non-classic”.

The Story Template algorithm (the test group)’s categorical diagnosis of subjects: either classic or non-classic was compared to the control group (the gold standard)’s classification of those same subjects.  The Story Template Algorithm’s credibility was assessed in terms of percent sensitivity, percent specificity, and percent accuracy.  Next I’ll describe exactly what the Story Template algorithm is…
