What is the nature of truth? Consider the recent WikiLeaks scandal, the rows of tabloids at the supermarket, Sarah Palin's frantic attempt to scrub her website of gun imagery after the Arizona shootings. And with thousands of television channels, blogs, and other media forms catered exactly to one's taste, can anything be said to be truly "objective"? There's no doubt that as journalism revolutionizes, it has become increasingly opinionated, public-relations-based, and tabloid-like in our society. This change in journalism is my current independent research topic in my Intern/Mentor class. By the end of the year, I will create criteria for judging various media organizations for their reliability and objectivity and then rate each publication, based partly on my original research. I will compile reports to send to each organization, along with an editorial summarizing my belief for the need for a return to objectivity by the modern media. Thank you for visiting my Digication page!
