The Hotel Industry vs. The Economy

Elizabeth David

Hammond High School

In July of 2009 the economic growth rate dropped by 3.8%. This forced many housekeepers, cooks, and front office employees to be laid off their work at hotels. Now what does this mean for the customer? It creates unclean rooms, poor service, and overall dissatisfaction. The hotel industry has recognized this and is working toward improving customer satisfaction. But how can a customer be pleased when the hotel industry is fighting a poor economy? This presentation will discuss the hardships the hotel industry has faced with the poor economy, and what it is doing to increase revenue.
