If there is anything that I improved on the most in Intern/Mentor it was my public speaking skills which were developed through numerous oral presentations. I came into Intern/ Mentor knowing how to speak in reference to performance and from this class I gained the experience of speaking professionally. I learned that when giving a presentation that you really have to know your information. By having all the information in your head and knowing your subject it makes it easier to present. You are less likely to mess up during a presentation and you are more likely to know how to explain yourself to your audience. One of the major things that I learned about oral presentations is that practice is everything. If you don’t practice you are most likely to make a mistake, seem nervous, and mess up. All of those things can cause your message to be distorted and one of the things that I learned is that you want the message of your research to be as clear as possible.
