For the first semester of this school year I researched immigration. I looked for details regarding how to get a Green Card, how to get a Visa and the process of coming into the country (United states) both legally and illegally. I also researched human trafficking and how it pertains to  not only our country but others that are developed, develping and are underdeveloped.

For the second semenster I plan on writing five short stories realating to immigration. They will be in the point of view of characters facing different issues in immigration. At least one of the characters will be a victim of trafficking. Another character will be living in the country illegally and will try to get the DREAM Act passed. The DREAM Act stands for the Development and Relief of Alien Minors Act. It has been a focal point of my research as it gives those who have lived in the United States all their lives (but were not born in the US) and have no crimminal record a chance to go to college or the military and later become citizens.

The point of this project is to bring the stories of those who do not have a voice to life on the pages. These are the people who do not know where there home is, where they're safe and are uncertain of their future. It is my hope these stories will bring awareness to issues like trafficking and make people ask "What can I do to change this?"
