3. Computer fields are one of the few that has received minimal female
involvement.
C. Colleges have their lowest female enrollments in advanced technology
classes pertaining to computer programming.
1. Low numbers of female computer interested college students stems
from lack of exposure in high schools.
2. The lack of female students feeding into the workforce leaves many
opportunities available
II. The academic community has addressed the need for programs focused on
female computer use to aide in boosting female technology numbers.
A. Research has determined many technology uninvolved women have not
been advised to the career of computer science.
1. Women are often falsely convinced computer scientists follow the
media given stereotype.
2. Schools explore careers through exposure to many topics except
technical computer work on a daily basis.
B. New programs are constantly developed to offer support for all women
interested in computer science
1. Many high schools encourage young girls to explore computer
science through interactive computer studies.
2. Developers have created computer programs intended to catch
young girls’ attention and teach basic programming sills.
3. Associations and groups are available to persuade women they can
have a successful computer science career.
C. Several current facts could be used to prove to women they can be
successful in computer science.
1. Women use computers as often as males for a variety of purposes.
2. Current women computer scientists have mainly been influenced by
careers of close relatives or family friends.
3. Girls loose interest of science and technology in middle school when
classes are more text based and less hands on.
